AT THE same time as Henry Getley had his ‘preparing for power cut’ (courtesy of his energy supplier) leaflet drop on to his doormat, Ed Miliband’s new National Electricity System Operator (NESO) revealed their plans to minimise the risk of ‘disruption’ (aka blackouts). The penny has dropped. They’re going to need to ‘stabilise net zero electricity transmission systems and minimise the risk of blackouts’, which spelled out means dealing with the unreliability of wind and solar energy the country is being forced to harness while they ditch reliable fossil fuel and nuclear-generated supplies.
