When people like Peter Baker claim that it’s ‘rewriting’ history to acknowledge the truth, what they really mean is that the propaganda they prefer has been a failure.
The point is, surely, that if the Western powers want to exercise an ethical foreign policy, they should be deflating the conflict, not inflating it by acting as arms suppliers.
