The former CEO stated that the “biggest mistake” he made while at the company was to invest in building tools that allowed Twitter to manage the public conversation, as opposed to tools that allowed the people using Twitter to manage it themselves.
“Twitter is working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you’ve been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal,” Musk wrote on Thursday.
Twitter filed the suit to “hold Elon Musk accountable to his contractual obligations,” Twitter board chair Bret Taylor tweeted.
“Oh the irony lol,” Musk tweeted after Twitter’s filing.
In a letter to Twitter (pdf) on July 8, filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Musk’s lawyers said that Musk is terminating the takeover agreement with Twitter because, they allege, Twitter made “false and misleading” statements about its user data.
