While speaking with NBC News ahead of a campaign rally in Potterville, Michigan, on Thursday, the former president was asked if he supports a ballot initiative in Florida that would nullify the state’s six-week abortion limit.
One difficulty with Roe v Wade was that it mightily over-extended the powers of the federal government and judiciary. Nowhere does anything remotely like a right to abortion appear in the Constitution.
He embraces states’ rights and aims to show that Democrats are the radical ones.
The manic energy with which Democrats seized on Mr. Trump’s abortion statement this week was a reminder of their electoral weakness—and ought to have Republicans eager to get on top of the issue.
