An appeals court in North Carolina is requiring more than 65,000 voters in the hotly contested state Supreme Court race to provide proof of identity in order for their votes to be counted.
The Democrat-run North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) voted to toss out election protests that challenged the legitimacy of voters who have never resided in the state or country, as well as those who are improperly registered to vote.
The Democrat-run Wake County Board of Elections dismissed all three election protests brought by Judge Jefferson Griffin, the Republican candidate in the state’s Supreme Court race.
The county elections board decided to accept the votes of deceased residents despite guidance from the state board to remove them.
Republicans sued because they said letting overseas voters who have never lived in North Carolina cast ballots is unconstitutional.
North Carolina’s constitution requires that voters be residents of the state. But a state statute currently in place violates this requirement, opening the door for individuals who have never resided in the state to vote, a newly filed lawsuit alleges.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) filed a lawsuit in August alleging the state failed to fulfill their duties and remove ineligible names from voter rolls.
The counties’ “withdrawal from the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence marks a major development, and victory, in the fight against left-wing dark money influence on election administration,” said Jason Snead, Executive Director of the Honest Elections Project.
“South Carolina likes Nikki Haley but South Carolina loves Donald Trump,” said Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican from the Charleston area who hasn’t endorsed a candidate. Mace started her congressional career highly critical of Trump, but she has since said she would consider backing the former president in the primary.
The decision of the voters to get rid of two of the judges who essentially said that voters were not smart enough to comply with a simple voter ID requirement shows just how much smarter the voters are than those former judges.
