IF YOU are heartily sick of watching mainstream TV’s ‘non’ documentaries (propaganda more like) or, like me, have cancelled your TV licence, there is no need to despair…… One which applies good journalistic values and where the reporting and presentation is objective, calm and measured, while exploring territory off the MSM’s official narrative track, is Epoch Times TV, the growing TV arm of the Epoch Times.
Over the past three years, not one mainstream outlet, whether print or broadcast, has mounted an in-depth, critical investigation of the Covid crisis and the hasty rollout of experimental and untested vaccines.
Democracy in America relies on an independent press to inform citizens with accurate information. Yet today, two forces pose significant challenges to this function: the growing struggle of news organizations to maintain financial independence and the growing distrust of news among the public.
The latest sign of this dangerous trend is a new report, “Beyond Objectivity: Producing trustworthy news in today’s newsrooms.” Written by two prominent journalists now teaching at Arizona State University – former Washington Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward – it is drawn from more than 75 interviews with “a variety of news leaders, journalists, and other experts.”
Too many editors are responding to a crisis of public trust by abandoning traditional news values.
Today media has more opinions than ever. More opinions, especially contrasting opinions, are good. What is bad, and erodes the public trust, is blurring opinions with news reporting.
So great has been the intensity of the propaganda and the censorship of alleged ‘misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information’ that it is no longer possible for journalists to rely on a degree of reasonableness in the audience.
We need journalists who seek the truth above all else and upon finding it, however unpleasant or inconvenient it may be, give it to the people without hesitation. We need them now more than ever.
A liberal bragging about winning a journalism award is a lot like someone bragging about having sex at a brothel: once you pay, that’s what is supposed to happen.
We seem to be entering a new era of yellow journalism, in which ad hominem attacks and conspiracy-mongering are more valued than truth and accuracy.
