It’s hard to report on a scientific study without reading it. More recently this column noted how various outlets got carried away last month trying to claim that the intensity of Florida hurricane activity is man-made. One outlet in particular, the Washington Post, doesn’t seem especially eager to learn from its mistakes.

Since 1856, there have been 29 hurricanes which made US landfall as either Cat 4 or 5. In other words, the sort of storm which comes along every five years on average.
As the chart below indicates, there is no trend of such hurricanes becoming more frequent.
NOAA recently released a study with similar conclusions, saying “it is premature to conclude with high confidence that human-caused increases in greenhouse gases” have impacted hurricane activity in the Atlantic.
Once again illustrating his lack of knowledge of how economics works, Biden instructed oil and gas companies not to use the hurricane as an excuse to “gouge the American people,” as Ian approached.
A huge search and rescue effort is continuing in Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, which cut a swathe of destruction across the US state.
At least 10 people have died in the state but officials fear the confirmed toll could rise considerably.
Hurricane Ian made landfall Wednesday in western Florida at 2:24 p.m. — causing panic and wreaking havoc as it destroyed buildings, ripped trees from the ground, caused cars to float away and flooded houses up to their roofs.
Ian is forecast to approach the west coast of Florida as an extremely dangerous hurricane, forecasters said in an 11 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center.
