The Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed that it was declining to prosecute Attorney General Merrick Garland after the House of Representatives voted to hold Garland in contempt of Congress concerning his refusal to comply with Congressional subpoenas.
Garland ignores the differences in the prosecution of Trump and Biden for similar behavior with classified documents.
The DOJ has spent over $23 million on the two investigations into former President Donald Trump, while spending only around $6.4 million on the probe into Biden’s handling of classified documents, according to numbers released in January.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution Wednesday to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena to release an audio tape of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur.
The House vote makes Garland the third Attorney General in U.S. history to earn a contempt charge from Congress.
The attorney general has failed to turn over subpoenaed recordings of Biden’s interview with special counsel Hur to two House committees.
“Merrick Garland has worked with the National Archives to block a lot of things from us and with the special counsel to block things from us,” Comer said. “Merrick Garland has obstructed our Biden influence peddling investigation.”
