Forcing anyone to mask, given the substantial and robust evidence base showing conclusively that masks don’t work, was an indefensible policy decision. But specifically forcing children to mask was decidedly much, much worse.
Naomi Oreskes, well-known science historian and co-author of Merchants of Doubt, argues that the public was “misled” by the 2023 Cochrane review, which concluded that wearing a face mask “probably makes little or no difference” in preventing SARS-CoV-2 transmission.
Thankfully lockdown and social distancing are over and, if the evidence is heeded, will never return. Vaccines have not yet gone away but with the copious evidence for harms up to and including death, nobody in their right mind would take one now.
As for face masks……….
