Fueling ambiguity about disputed votes is a sad capstone to the Pennsylvania Senator’s career.
There’s no flipping the rules of the game after it’s played. What saved the day was that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for once did the stabilizing thing, ordering local officials to respect the status quo.
The governor kept mum as Sen. Bob Casey tried to prevail through illegal votes.
It’s a mess. In four counties—Bucks, Philadelphia, Centre and Montgomery—election officials openly defied a 2023 Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision by counting undated or misdated ballots in an effort to drag Mr. Casey over the finish line.
Election Denial 2.0: “Democrat officials and scam lawyers are aiding and abetting Bob Casey’s shameful attempts to steal back a Senate seat which he lost decisively,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said.
“The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;—The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President.”
No one doubts Ms. Harris will get to “open all the certificates.” No one doubts the votes must “then be counted.” But by whom? And how? The 12th Amendment doesn’t say.
By now it’s commonplace to note that Kamala Harris often seems out of her depth, like she’s unsure what to say about policy, or how to explain her past positions, or why she hasn’t already done the things she’s promised to do if she’s elected given that she’s the current vice president.
